Mercy Aigbe Don Open Up Say E No Easy To Be Single Mother
Filmmaker and actress Mercy Aigbe don open up about the wahala wey she face as single mother.
The ‘Ada Omo Daddy’ star, wey people sabi say she no dey joke with parenting, talk say raising pikin alone na serious work, especially when you gats play both mama and papa role.
As she reflect on her journey, she talk say e no easy at all and she hail all single mothers, call dem “real heroes” because of their strength and resilience.
She talk say the matter still dey touch her well-well emotionally.
Mercy still reveal say she dey always pray for her daughter Michelle and other pikin wey dey under her care, even the ones wey no be her biological children. She say she dey always pray make dem enjoy better relationship, the kind wey she no enjoy for her own life.
She talk say the reason why she strict for parenting na because she no wan fail as mama, especially as she don already face disappointment for love matter.
“To raise pikin as single mama… shout out to all single mums out there, una be real heroes. E no easy at all to play two people role. This single mother matter dey very sensitive to me because e no be small thing. That’s why anytime I dey pray for Michelle, I dey also pray for other children wey I dey look after even if dem no be my biological pikin, dem still be my pikin.
“I dey tell especially the girls say, life dey happen. Many of us no plan to be single mother, na life just happen. But we dey hope say our children go get better life. I dey always tell my pikin say, ‘Make your first love be your forever,’ because I no wish this kind life for anybody. E dey drain person.
“One of the reasons wey make me dey strict with my children na because I no wan fail as mama. As I don fail for relationship side, I no wan fail for motherhood. I no even wan make dem make mistake. I forget say mistake na part of life journey. I dey push dem too much, no give dem space to be themselves or learn from their own errors.
“I just dey fear say people go laugh me say, ‘Na single mother raise dem, dem no fit become anything.’ But the truth be say, this life dey drain person financially, emotionally, morally, mentally but you still gats show up every day,” she yarn.
